In this poster I wanted to get across the way that this movie blends both religion with the moral fight between violence and peace. I also used the grey tones to show that the movie is also rugged. Hope you guys like it!
Because the characters are the main focus in the poster, they should be a high quality photo rather than a blurry, low quality one. The background is a bit hard to understand. I think it is also a low quality photo, which makes it hard to see some of the finer details. The font could be filled in rather than being an outline as well. The layout is very good and fits the movie well. Just brush up on some of the finer details and it will be a great poster.
I tried fixing that, it was the image trace, so I worked with the tones and tried to work on sharpening the image in photoshop, this was the third vision of the image, and I like the blurriness of the main characters because sometimes in the movies you wonder if what they are doing is right. The second movie left me with a big cliffhanger so I wanted to show that their purpose is not yet completely into focus. I do see where you are coming from though and thanks for the pointers.
I really do like the painted effect on the characters and the background. The font is a bit obnoxious though, make it could be changed or colored in. Other than that I really like it
I like the effect you used on the characters as well as the background. I like the use of having an old English style font, it goes well the the cathedral themed background, but it is a bit hard to read with just the outline. It's a good poster, nice job.
i've never seen this movie, so i can't really say much about it.
what i will say about this poster is that it looks nice, although the characters probably shouldn't be colored in like that because i can't see what they really look like. i do like the black and gray color scheme though.
If i didn't read the comments I wouldn't know it was for a movie. I think if you changed the font so its easy to read would be a help. also maybe adding the actors and the extra movie chagrin at the bottom would help also.
I love the font and the spotted background. The only thing is that since it is so large and the people are so much the focus it is a bit disorienting to see them be not in focus. (I read that you tried to sharpen it, but it just didn't work). I love the simplistic looking background because it shows not much but also gives you a general feeling of what it is. I would try it with a realistic background and compare the two.
I love the Boodock Saints! Those movies were awesome. I love the background you picked for it, it was a great choice. Couple things I would change is maybe not make them so blurry just a little bit. Also the guy on the left his head looks choppy maybe you pentooled them out. His head might need to be touched up a bit to me because it doesn't look like his hair. The text was a good choice just maybe a different color just to try something different.
I think this turned out well. The two figures and the text at the top of the poster form both form triangles pointing down and up into the composition. The scale of the figures uses the 2D space well, while still allowing us to view the architectural space behind. The small shapes here create the illusion of a large amount of space behind the figures. The dotted texture was a great decision-it ties the red text back into the figures. Without this black value there, the text at the top would be very seperate from the heavy weight of the figures at the bottom of the composition. I think it was a great decision for you to trace the lettering of the text-it feels much more substantial and interesting this way, and also ties me back into the background shapes. Something you could pull back on is the dotted texture...I feel that it is a little too dense a little too far down, but it’s minor. I think you could also continue to play with the original photo more and make it less orange in tone-or find a larger file to begin with so the facial features are not as distorted after the vectorization. A more photographic quality here would do a lot for this poster.
I like the way you put the religious image in the middle, its shade and size look good. The overall color black and red give strong feeling. Just the two pulling the guns don't look so bad ones.^^
I believe the text is a tiny bit hard to read at a first glance. Also, I think that if characters are going to be front and center, they should be seen clearly. Other than that, I believe this poster is very well done!
The guns in the image have become really interesting shapes. The way the background fades in is visually interesting. The blurryness doesn't bother me though I'm not sure if I'm sold on how you've used the text. Up close it looks ok, but for some reason when I zoom out it looks almost pixelated. Not sure if it might be as simple as the stroke width or if it's just my screen doing something funny.
If the barrel of the one guy's gun wasn't clipped so it looked like it was aimed at the viewer, i think it would add more depth. I like the posterized effect on everything, even in the background. I think the top of the poster is a little too dark. It kind of unbalances everything. Maybe if the black was transparent on top of more texture, like more of the church in the background, for example. I love the boondock saints and I think this came out pretty good.

ReplyDeleteWhat color should I use? I really like the idea of coloring in the font.

ReplyDeleteI've never seen this movie before. I like that its a little blurry but too much black and the heads look like they don't belong on their bodies.

ReplyDeleteClassic! I like how you cartoonized the characters however that text does seem odd.
ReplyDeleteOnly thing I will criticize is the tracing on the 2 main guys need to be more smooth. Other than that, the rest looks phenomenal!
